My feeding station is still being visited every night and all food devoured. I am pretty sure I have a mummy hedgehog calling for food. I am on the lookout for her babies, who of course will not make it through the winter without human intervention.

read moreI went out for my last thing in the evening ’roundup’ and noticed a hedgehog in my rear garden. He was average size but I wasn’t quite sure if it was adult or not. I caught him and weighed him and he was just under 600g. I gave Andrew a quick call and he came around and examined the hedgehog. Unfortunately there were quite a few tics so it was decided that the hedgehog would need to go back to the rescue centre. Here he was weighed – 590g – and is clearly an Autumn Juvenille. TicTok has also got a nasty cough...

read moreI saw the first hedgehog for years in Jones Close last week. It was a small one but scuttled along in the centre of the road at getting on for 11pm. The following evening at around 10.15pm a different – much larger hedgehog raced by. I have been putting out water each night since, as well as some peanut granules in one dish and hedgehog food mixed with dried mealy worms in another dish. Several nights all has been devoured. I have now purchased a feeding station from this site as I am wanting to feed a wet food to vary the foods on...
read moreI’ve recently been introduced to the world of hedgehogs… I’ve bought a hedgehog house and hedgehog food from Brackley Hogwatch, set it up in my garden and for the last 3 mornings I’ve checked, all the food has been eaten! I’m pretty convinced it’s a hedgehog as I’ve seen them scurrying around in my garden in the past. Next step is to wire up the tiny camera (again, bought through this site) to my laptop and see if I can catch any footage… Watch this space.
